MONARCH MIGRATION:
No Butterfly Left Behind
Game Play Instructions

Prepare the game board  by placing (or marking) one token on each cell in the JAN (January) row of the printed Journey Mapper.

The first Player to Roll a 6 gets to choose their token position. Repeat this process until all players are assigned a starting cell.

Taking turns. Each player, starting with Player 1, rolls to determine their move action.

Note that gameplay proceeds from left to right starting with the first player on the left, regardless of order of initial token selection.

Based on Roll/Draw result, you might migrate to the next month/range line, or you might go back to the previous month/range line, or roll again, or stay where you are.

Tokens move from one row of cells to the next adjacent row, either forward or back, based on the roll result.

Note: If, a player’s token is on the JAN range and a Roll returns "Go Back," then the token remains where it is and play passes to the next player (going from left to right on the Journey Mapper Worksheet).

If a token is on the JAN range line and the result of the draw is "Go Back & Roll Again," the token remains where it is and the player rolls again.

A token MAY move to any open, or unoccupied, cell in an adjacent row (forward or backward) based on outcome of the Roll.

A token MUST move IF there is an open cell to land in.

IF there are NO open cells in an adjacent row, stay where you are; the turn passes to the next player.

Use physical tokens if desired, along with marking the printed Journey Mapper worksheet.

The Game is complete when the last token in play reaches the DEC range sanctuary.

The goal of No Butterfly Left Behind is for all the Butterflies to reach the sanctuary in the least number of moves.

WHAT IF you modify the game board setup with Health resources and Hazards?

Try your own variations.

Let these tokens repesent the following:
Flower = Health
If you land on a cell with a Flower then Roll Again.

Skull & Crossbones = Hazard
You cannot land on a cell with a Hazard.

Continental Divide. Let the brown hexagons, in the following map, represent mountains that the Butterflies cannot land on or cross.
